BiTape Industrial Tape Solutions — Double Sided Adhesive Tape MexicoBiTape Soluciones en Cintas Adhesivas Industriales — Cinta Doble Cara Industrial

Industrial double sided adhesive tape uses Pressure Sensitive Adhesive (PSA) construction with adhesive on both sides of a carrier (acrylic foam, PE foam, tissue or PVC gasket). In many bonding applications it can replace mechanical fasteners (rivets, screws) by distributing load across the bonded surface, eliminating visible holes and reducing assembly time. It is not a substitute for fasteners in safety-critical or high-dynamic-load applications, where qualified joint design and engineering review remain required. Heavy duty double sided tape provides structural bonding for permanent industrial assemblies where the bonded area, surface preparation and service environment have been validated.

Standards & Validation

Industrial Tape Solutions Validated Against ASTM Methods

Every BiTape industrial tape ships with a published Technical Data Sheet referencing the test method behind each performance claim.

ASTM D-897 (tensile)

Tensile Strength

Pull-to-failure test reporting force per unit area. BiTape double sided acrylic foam tape reaches 100 lb/in² in validated configurations.

ASTM D-3330 (peel adhesion)

90° Peel Adhesion

Stainless steel substrate, 12 in/min pull rate, 1 in wide adhesive tape. Reports adhesion in lb/in.

ASTM D-1002 (lap shear)

Dynamic Shear

Lap shear on stainless steel for industrial double sided tape, 1.27 in² overlap, 7-day hold. Reports performance at multiple temperatures and humidity.

ASTM D-3654 (holding power)

Static Shear

Hold-to-failure test under fixed load for industrial double sided adhesive tape. Validates long-term creep resistance at service temperatures.

FAQ

Industrial double sided tape — questions answered

For industrial double sided adhesive tape applications, the acrylic foam family is the right pick — tensile strength up to 100 lb/in² per ASTM D-897 in validated configurations. The BiTape acrylic foam family covers three structural references: 510T (40 mil, transparent, for visible joints), 901G (32 mil, grey, general structural) and 912N (90 mil, black, gap-filling structural).

PE foam tape provides cushioning, gap filling and lightweight bonding at a lower price point. It is the right pick for non-structural applications, short-life assemblies and uses where compression, sealing or sound dampening matter more than load-bearing capacity.

In many engineered assemblies, yes. Acrylic foam tape distributes stress along the entire bond line instead of concentrating it at individual fasteners, which eliminates drilling, prevents corrosion at fastener points and produces clean, finished surfaces. The application must be qualified, however: substrate surface energy, service temperature range, expected load (tensile, shear, peel) and bond-line area drive whether tape is a valid substitute.

For structural conversions from fasteners to tape, BiTape recommends running a bonded prototype against the original fastened design at service temperature and humidity before committing to production.

Two separate cases require two different families. For outdoor structural exposure (UV, rain, thermal cycling between -40 and 248 °F), the acrylic foam line is the right pick — closed-cell construction provides weather sealing and the acrylic adhesive resists UV degradation. Architectural glazing and signage routinely use 510T, 901G and 912N in permanent exterior installations.

For process exposure up to 426 °F — typically powder coating ovens or anodizing baths — the BiTape powder coating masking tape (983V) uses silicone adhesive that survives the thermal cycle and removes cleanly without leaving residue.
