Double Coated Tissue Tape — Application and Handling

Surfaces must be free of dust, grease, oil and water. Use isopropyl alcohol as cleaner on both surfaces. Bond strength depends on surface area in direct contact with the tape. Apply firm pressure for a proper bond.

How to apply BiTape 0960B double coated tissue tape

  1. Clean both substrates. Surfaces must be free of dust, grease, oil and water. Wipe both bonding faces with isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth. Allow to dry completely.
  2. Cut the tape to length. Measure the bonding line. Cut the tissue tape with scissors, utility knife or die-cutter. The thin tissue carrier (0.09 mm) is easy to slit and die-cut to custom shapes for labeling and nameplate applications.
  3. Apply to the first substrate. Peel the white PE-coated paper liner from one side. Position the tape and press firmly along the entire run, ensuring uniform contact with the substrate.
  4. Bond the second substrate. Peel the remaining liner. Align the second substrate and press firmly. Bond strength depends on surface area in direct contact — cover the entire overlap.
  5. Allow shear curing time. Initial tack ≥1.25 kg/25 mm (FINAT 9) is achieved immediately. Shear strength ≥24 h under 1.0 kg load (FINAT 8) develops after 24 hours at room temperature. For low surface energy substrates (PE, PP) or rubber, this product is not recommended

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. BiTape 0960B is a 0.09 mm (3.54 mil) double coated tissue tape with modified solvent acrylic adhesive on a translucent paper tissue carrier. This tissue tape delivers initial tack ≥1.25 kg/25 mm (FINAT 9), peel adhesion ≥1.50 kg/25 mm (FINAT 1 / ASTM D3330M), shear resistance ≥24 h under 1.0 kg at room temperature (FINAT 8 / ASTM D3654M). Service -4 to 158 °F. Engineered for low-profile assemblies on paper, fabric and non-woven materials.
Double coated tissue tape 0960B requires both substrates free of dust, grease, oil and water. Isopropyl alcohol is the recommended cleaner for both bonding faces. Apply firm pressure across the entire bond area to achieve correct wet-out. Note that 0960B is not recommended for low surface energy substrates (PE, PP) without surface treatment, nor for rubber without prior testing. Continuous immersion is not recommended.
BiTape 0960B performs excellently on metal, glass, ceramics, paper and paperboard. Performance is good on high surface energy plastics (PVC, ABS), foam and fabric. The product is not recommended on low surface energy plastics (PE, PP) or rubber. Typical applications: nameplate fastening on metal substrates, paper and paperboard bonding for printing and stationery, fabric and non-woven assembly.
BiTape 0960B double coated tissue tape is specified for printing and graphic arts (gloss/matte paper bonding, paperboard finishing, POP displays), stationery and packaging (lightweight assembly, manual or semi-automatic processes), labeling and nameplate fastening (ID plate bonding on metal substrates) and general manufacturing where a thin, low-profile bond line is required on paper, fabric or non-woven materials.
0960B is the general-purpose double coated tissue tape — translucent paper tissue carrier (0.09 mm) for paper, paperboard, fabric and nameplate bonding. 0962B is a thin double sided adhesive tape variant for similar low-profile assemblies. 0965T is the specialty tissue tape for hard-to-bond plastics (polycarbonate and similar engineering substrates). Specify by primary substrate: paper/fabric/metal use 0960B; engineering plastics use 0965T.
BiTape 0960B double coated tissue tape is available in standard widths 1/4", 1/2", 3/4", 1" and 2". Custom widths and die-cut shapes on request. Shelf life 1 year from date of delivery, stored at 65-85 °F (18-29 °C) and 50-70 % relative humidity.
BiTape 0960B is not residue-free upon removal. The modified solvent acrylic adhesive is designed for permanent bonding on paper, paperboard, fabric and metal substrates — it transfers some adhesive to the substrate when removed. For removable or repositionable applications on delicate substrates, this is not the recommended product. The trade-off is reliable holding power: ≥24 h shear under 1.0 kg (FINAT 8) and high initial tack ≥1.25 kg/25 mm (FINAT 9).
Choose BiTape 0960B double coated tissue tape when you need a thin, low-profile bond line (0.09 mm) on smooth substrates: paper, paperboard, fabric, metal nameplates or glass. Tissue tape is unsuitable for uneven surfaces or gap-filling applications — for those specify a PE foam tape: BiTape 4203B (white 3 mm AAMA), 4500B (white 1 mm carrier-broken) or 485N (black 1.6 mm) for substrate-color matching and surface irregularity compensation.
