BiTape 4500B — Thick PE Foam Tape 1mm Double Sided

Thick PE foam tape 1mm — a thick double sided foam tape with solvent-based acrylic adhesive on 4 PCF closed-cell white polyethylene foam. Engineered for carrier-broken failure mode: cohesive failure inside the foam, evidence of bond strength higher than the foam itself. Designed for smooth or lightly irregular surfaces in window glazing, emblem fixing and light-duty industrial mounting.

High-Tack PE Foam Tape 1mm — Application and Handling

Surfaces must be free of dust, grease, oil and water. Use isopropyl alcohol as cleaner on both surfaces. Bond strength depends on surface area in direct contact with the tape. Apply firm pressure for a proper bond.

How to apply BiTape 4500B PE foam tape

  1. Clean both substrates. Surfaces must be free of dust, grease, oil and water. Wipe both bonding faces with isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth. Allow to dry completely.
  2. Cut the tape to length. Measure the bonding line. Cut the white PE foam tape with scissors or utility knife. For corners on signage or trim, use 45° miter cuts to maintain continuity.
  3. Apply to the first substrate. Peel the light-blue PE film liner from one side. Position the tape and press firmly along the entire run, ensuring uniform contact with the substrate.
  4. Bond the second substrate. Peel the remaining liner. Align the second substrate and press firmly. Bond strength depends on surface area in direct contact — cover the entire overlap.
  5. Allow shear curing time. Initial loop tack ≥4.0 kg/25 mm carrier-broken (FINAT 9) is achieved immediately. Shear strength ≥24 h under 1.0 kg load develops after 24 hours at room temperature. For low surface energy substrates (PE, PP, silicone, PTFE), apply primer or plasma pretreatment.

We offer slit rolls and die-cut shapes of high-tack PE foam tape 1mm according to your project geometry.

BiTape 4500B is available as thick double sided foam tape, white PE foam tape and polyethylene foam tape formats. Request custom widths, die-cuts or master rolls for window glazing, emblem fixing and high-shear industrial mounting on smooth surfaces.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. BiTape 4500B is a 1.0 mm thick PE foam tape — a thick double sided foam tape with solvent-based acrylic adhesive on 4 PCF closed-cell white polyethylene foam. This thick PE foam tape delivers loop tack ≥4.0 kg/25 mm carrier-broken (FINAT 9), peel adhesion ≥2.5 kg/25 mm carrier-broken (PSTC-3), shear resistance ≥24 h under 1.0 kg at room temperature, tensile strength >20 kg at 80 °C. Service -22 to 176 °F.
Thick PE foam tape 4500B requires both substrates free of dust, grease, oil and water. Isopropyl alcohol is the recommended cleaner for both bonding faces. Apply firm pressure across the entire bond area to achieve correct wet-out. Low surface energy substrates (PE, PP, silicone, PTFE) require primer or plasma pretreatment to achieve full performance. Continuous immersion is not recommended.
Yes. Thick PE foam tape 4500B is engineered for window glazing applications and seals effectively against water, dust and light. Its 1 mm closed-cell foam profile suits smooth or lightly irregular aluminum and PVC frames. Typical applications: window glazing, fixing emblems and nameplates, plastic trim mounting, light-duty general bonding. For larger gaps with surface irregularities, specify BiTape 4203B (3 mm white PE foam, AAMA certified).
BiTape 4500B thick PE foam tape is specified for construction (window glazing, plastic trim mounting on smooth frames), automotive (emblem and nameplate fixing on body panels) and general light-duty industrial bonding where a white 1 mm bond line, high grab tack and carrier-broken failure mode are required. Its 4 PCF closed-cell polyethylene foam is optimized for smooth or lightly irregular substrates.
BiTape 4500B is the thick PE foam tape: white 1.0 mm 4 PCF PE foam with carrier-broken failure mode and high shear resistance (≥24 h) — for high-tack mounting on smooth or lightly irregular surfaces. 4203B is white 3.0 mm 2.5 PCF PE foam with AAMA certification — for window glazing on uneven surfaces and signage where gap-filling matters. 485N is black 1.6 mm 4 PCF PE foam — for automotive and dark-finish assemblies. Specify by substrate finish, gap dimension and shear requirement.
BiTape 4500B thick PE foam tape is available in standard widths 1/4", 1/2", 3/4", 1" and 2". Custom widths on request. Shelf life 2 years from date of manufacture, stored at 72 °F and 50 % relative humidity.
Carrier-broken failure mode means that during a peel or tack test, the polyethylene foam itself ruptures cohesively before the adhesive layer detaches from either substrate. This is a positive performance indicator: the bond is stronger than the foam. For BiTape 4500B, both loop tack ≥4.0 kg/25 mm (FINAT 9) and peel ≥2.5 kg/25 mm (PSTC-3) are reported as carrier-broken — confirming high-tack adhesion on smooth substrates.
BiTape 4500B is a double-sided foam tape — designed to bond two substrates together (mounting, fixing, sealing). Choose 4500B when you need to fix an emblem, nameplate, plastic trim or light-duty panel onto a smooth or lightly irregular surface and require carrier-broken adhesion strength. If your goal is only to seal a closure gap (door, window, lid) without bonding, specify a single-sided foam gasket tape: BiTape 203N (3 mm thin profile) or BiTape 206N (6.4 mm thick profile).
