Double-Coated Polyethylene Foam Tapes
PE Foam Tape — Double Sided Polyethylene
BiTape PE foam tape delivers flexible, conformable bonding for light-to-medium industrial assemblies. The polyethylene foam tape range — 485N black 1/16 in, 4203B white 1/8 in and 4500B white 39 mil — covers automotive emblem mounting, AAMA-certified glazing, sign attachment, sealing gaps and vibration absorption. Select PE foam tape when compressibility, conformability and gap-filling matter more than absolute structural strength.
Double-coated polyethylene foam tapes with pressure-sensitive solvent acrylic adhesive — engineered for applications that require immediate and durable bonding both indoors and outdoors. The closed-cell foam structure and high-tack acrylic adhesive deliver excellent resistance to vibration, impact and surface irregularities, making PE foam tape ideal for bonding, sealing and gap-filling on rough or slightly uneven substrates. Service window -22 to 176 °F.
Easy-remove PE liner and high initial tack guarantee fast and efficient adhesion in every application — automotive emblems, glazing panels, signage mounting, decorative trim and industrial sealing.

Frequently Asked Questions
A PE foam tape (polyethylene foam tape) is a double-coated tape with a closed-cell polyethylene foam core and pressure-sensitive acrylic adhesive on both faces. The PE foam compresses to compensate surface irregularities and absorb vibration, while the adhesive bonds permanently to metals, glass and most rigid plastics. BiTape PE foam tape covers three thicknesses — 485N at 1/16 in, 4203B at 1/8 in and 4500B at 39 mil — for industrial assembly, AAMA-certified glazing, sign mounting and gap sealing.
Specify BiTape 485N (black, 1/16 in, 4 PCF) for highest tack and adhesion — automotive emblems, sign mounting and dark-finish assemblies where peel ≥123 oz/in PSTC-3 is required. AAMA-certified for glazing. Specify BiTape 4203B (white, 1/8 in, 2.5 PCF) when surface conformability matters more — uneven gaps, AAMA glazing on light-finish frames, and applications needing the thicker bond line. Specify BiTape 4500B (white, 39 mil, 4 PCF carrier-broken) for light-duty mounting, gap sealing and white-finish assemblies on smooth or slightly irregular surfaces.
BiTape 485N, 4203B and 4500B are double-coated PE foam tapes — adhesive on both faces of the polyethylene foam core, each face protected by a light-blue PE film liner. Double-coated bonding lets the tape mount one substrate to another (panel to frame, emblem to body, sign to wall) where the foam carrier compresses to absorb vibration and compensate surface irregularities. For single-sided gasket sealing without bonding two substrates, specify the BiTape foam gasket tape range (203N, 206N).
BiTape PE foam tape (485N, 4203B and 4500B) is rated for service from -22 to 176 °F. This window covers most architectural glazing, automotive interior and exterior trim, signage mounting on conditioned environments, and HVAC component assembly. Tensile strength at 176 °F — the upper service limit — is >44 lb on 485N and 4500B, and >22 lb on 4203B, both measured on a 1×1 in bond.
AAMA (American Architectural Manufacturers Association) certification confirms that BiTape 485N and 4203B PE foam tapes meet the durability, weatherability and adhesion requirements for structural glazing applications — bonding glass and aluminum panels in commercial windows and curtain walls. The AAMA test cycle simulates years of UV exposure, thermal cycling and humidity. Specify these tapes for window manufacturing, glazing of architectural panels, ACM cladding and HVAC component sealing where AAMA compliance is required.
BiTape PE foam tape is specified for construction (architectural glazing, AAMA-certified panel mounting, HVAC sealing, weather seal), automotive (emblem mounting, badge attachment, decorative trim, exterior moldings), signage and graphics (sign attachment, lightbox assembly, ACM panel cladding) and electronics (component cushioning, LCD mounting, instrument enclosures). The closed-cell PE foam compresses to compensate surface irregularities and absorbs vibration across thermal cycles.
Substrates must be clean, dry and free of dust, grease, oil and adhesive residue. Wipe both bonding faces with isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth. For low surface energy plastics such as PP or PE, primer or plasma pretreatment may be required. Apply firm pressure across the entire bond area for proper adhesive wet-out — the PE foam carrier needs full contact to develop its rated tack and shear performance. Allow 24-72 hours dwell time before placing the assembly under full design load, especially for AAMA glazing applications.
BiTape 485N, 4203B and 4500B PE foam tapes are available in standard widths 1/4 in, 1/2 in, 3/4 in, 1 in and 2 in. Custom widths and die-cut shapes on request — particularly useful for high-volume automotive die-cuts and pre-cut glazing strips. Specify thickness (485N for 1/16 in / 1.5 mm, 4203B for 1/8 in / 3 mm, 4500B for 39 mil / 1 mm) and color (black for 485N, white for 4203B and 4500B) when ordering.
