Thin Double Sided Tape — Tissue and PET Ultra Thin

Thin Double Sided Tape — Tissue and Clear PET

BiTape thin double sided tape for labels, splicing and outdoor assemblies. Double coated tissue tape and clear PET configurations.

Double-coated thin tapes engineered for thin bond-line assemblies — available in two carrier types: tissue paper for general-purpose mounting and industrial splicing (0960B, 0962B), and clear PET film for outdoor signage, polycarbonate bonding and UL 969 glazing applications (0965T). All three deliver high initial tack, dimensional stability and clean die-cuttable bond lines.

The tissue family covers gloss/matte papers, paperboard, fabric and non-woven materials (0960B) and industrial splicing of plastic films, papers and aluminum foils with heat resistance up to 284 °F short-term (0962B). The PET film variant (0965T) extends service to 356 °F short-term, bonds low surface energy plastics such as PP and PE, and carries UL 969 approval (File MH 19350) for outdoor and label-grade applications.

KEY FEATURES:

  • Thin bond line — from 3.5 mil to 8 mil
  • High initial tack — up to ≥98.6 oz/in (≥2.8 kg/25 mm) FINAT 9 on 0965T
  • Easy to cut and die-cut
  • Service temperature -22 to 356 °F across the family (varies by product)
  • Resistant to solvents and chemicals
  • Clean removal — no adhesive transfer on most substrates
  • Bonds engineering plastics including PC, PA, ABS, PP/PE, PVC (0965T)
  • UL 969 approved on 0965T (File MH 19350) for outdoor applications

TAPE STRUCTURE

Liner (siliconized paper or MOPP film)

Function: Adhesive protection and handling

  • Protects the adhesive system before application
  • Enables die-cutting and accurate positioning
  • Allows controlled release
  • Improves precision in mounting

Tissue or PET carrier

Function: Reinforcement and adhesive distribution

  • Acts as carrier of the double-coated adhesive system
  • Distributes adhesive evenly on both faces
  • Provides dimensional stability during application (PET on 0965T) or general-purpose conformability (tissue on 0960B and 0962B)
  • Improves conformability on textured surfaces

Acrylic adhesive (double-coated)

Function: Permanent bond between substrates

  • High initial tack for fast assembly lines — up to ≥98.6 oz/in on 0965T
  • Strong final adhesion on paper, plastics, foam and many engineering substrates
  • Compatible with paper, plastics and foams across the family
  • Optimized performance on indoor and outdoor applications (0965T UL 969)

Frequently Asked Questions

A thin double sided tape is a double-coated adhesive tape with a thin carrier (tissue paper or PET film) and pressure-sensitive acrylic adhesive on both faces. The thin carrier delivers a low-profile bond line that does not interfere with the assembly, ideal for paper-grade mounting, label production, industrial splicing of films and outdoor signage. BiTape thin double sided tape covers three configurations — 0960B 3.5 mil tissue (general-purpose), 0962B 4 mil tissue (splicing/heat resistant) and 0965T 8 mil clear PET (outdoor UL 969).

Specify BiTape 0960B (tissue 3.5 mil / 0.09 mm) for general-purpose mounting on paper, fabric and nameplates where service temperature stays in the -4 to 158 °F range. Specify BiTape 0962B (tissue 4 mil) for industrial splicing of plastic films, papers and aluminum foils, with heat resistance up to 284 °F short-term — twice the loop tack of 0960B. Specify BiTape 0965T (clear PET 8 mil) when transparency, UL 969 outdoor approval, low surface energy substrate bonding (PP, PE, polycarbonate) or service up to 356 °F short-term is required.

Tissue tape (0960B, 0962B) uses a thin paper carrier that conforms well to paper, fabric and lightly textured surfaces — ideal for label mounting, paperboard joining and industrial splicing. The tissue carrier has lower dimensional stability than PET but higher conformability. Clear PET tape (0965T) uses a polyester film carrier with high dimensional stability, transparency and broader thermal range — ideal for outdoor signage, polycarbonate bonding and assemblies where the bond line should be invisible. Both share the same double-coated acrylic adhesive technology; the carrier choice is the key differentiator for each application.

Service temperature varies by product. 0960B (general-purpose tissue) covers -4 to 158 °F. 0962B (splicing/heat-resistant tissue) covers -22 to 284 °F short-term — engineered for cure ovens of printing and lamination processes. 0965T (outdoor PET) extends short-term service to -4 to 356 °F with long-term -4 to 248 °F. The PET carrier and UL 969 approval make 0965T the only option in the family for sustained outdoor exposure.

BiTape thin double sided tape is specified for printing and graphic arts (label mounting, paperboard joining, industrial splicing of paper and films), packaging (lamination of plastic films, foil sealing, splice repair), electronics (component assembly with low-profile bond, LCD-to-polycarbonate on 0965T), construction and signage (outdoor displays on 0965T with UL 969 outdoor compliance) and general industrial assembly where a thin, fast-tack and clean bond line is required.

Yes, but only with the PET configuration. BiTape 0965T (clear PET 8 mil) is engineered for low surface energy (LSE) substrates such as PP and PE; the modified solvent acrylic adhesive bonds reliably to silicone-treated and mold-release surfaces. The tissue versions (0960B, 0962B) are NOT optimized for LSE plastics — they target paper, fabric, paperboard, films and metals where surface energy is higher. For PP/PE bonding always specify 0965T.

Substrates must be clean, dry and free of dust, grease and adhesive residue. Wipe both bonding faces with isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth. For oxidized metal sand the surface; for low surface energy plastics (PP, PE), surface treatment or primer is recommended (use 0965T which is optimized for LSE substrates). Apply firm pressure across the entire bond area for proper adhesive wet-out — the thin tissue or PET carrier needs full contact to develop its rated tack and shear performance. Run a prior adhesion test for critical PP/PE combinations or sustained heat exposure.

BiTape 0960B, 0962B and 0965T thin double sided tapes are available in standard widths 1/4 in, 1/2 in, 3/4 in, 1 in and 2 in. Custom widths and die-cut shapes on request — particularly useful for label production, splicing lines and high-volume signage. Specify carrier (tissue for 0960B/0962B, PET for 0965T), thickness and color when ordering. Shelf life 1 year from date of delivery (tissue) or 2 years from date of manufacture (PET 0965T).
