Outdoor Double Sided Tape 8 mil — Application and Handling
Surfaces must be free of dust, grease, oil and water. Use isopropyl alcohol as cleaner on both surfaces. Bond strength depends on surface area in direct contact with the tape. Apply firm pressure for a proper bond. For critical PP/PE combinations or continuous heat exposure, run a prior adhesion test.
How to apply BiTape 0965T outdoor double sided tape
- Clean both substrates. Surfaces must be free of dust, grease, oil and water. Wipe both bonding faces with isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth. For LSE substrates such as PP or PE, allow to dry completely before applying the tape.
- Cut the tape to length. Measure the bonding line. Cut the clear PET tape with scissors, utility knife or die-cutter. The 8 mil (0.20 mm) PET film carrier is dimensionally stable and easy to die-cut to custom shapes for outdoor signage, decorative trim and precision assemblies.
- Apply to the first substrate. Peel the pink MOPP liner from one side. Position the tape and press firmly along the entire run, ensuring uniform contact with the substrate.
- Bond the second substrate. Peel the remaining liner. Align the second substrate and press firmly. Bond strength depends on surface area in direct contact — cover the entire overlap with even pressure.
- Allow shear curing time. Initial loop tack ≥98.6 oz/in FINAT 9 is achieved immediately. Shear at 77 °F ≥24 h under 70.6 oz load PSTC-7 develops after 24 hours. For continuous heat exposure or critical PP/PE combinations, run a prior adhesion test as recommended by the limitations.

0965T is the outdoor-grade variant of the BiTape PET tape lineup — 8 mil (0.20 mm) PET film carrier (vs tissue paper), UL 969 approved, short-term service up to 356 °F (180 °C), bonds LSE substrates such as PP and PE, and 2-year shelf life. 0962B is the splicing/heat tissue tape (4 mil / 0.105 mm, 284 °F / 140 °C short-term) for industrial film and foil splicing. 0960B is the general-purpose tissue tape (3.5 mil / 0.09 mm) for paper, fabric and nameplate bonding at lower service temperatures. Specify by application: outdoor/LSE/UL 969 use 0965T; splicing/heat use 0962B; paper/fabric/metal general use 0960B.

Choose BiTape 0965T outdoor double sided tape when you need a thin, transparent, low-profile bond line 8 mil for outdoor signage, polycarbonate trim, decorative moldings and LSE substrate assemblies. PET film tapes are unsuitable for uneven surfaces, gap-filling or vibration absorption — for those specify a PE foam tape: BiTape 4203B (white 3 mm AAMA), 4500B (white 1 mm carrier-broken) or 485N (black 1.6 mm). Use 0965T whenever transparency, dimensional stability, UL 969 compliance or service above 248 °F is required.
